Date Night is a game about saying things out loud that you might not usually say. That only works when everyone feels safe enough to be silly. Here's how the game helps, and how you can too.
Before you play
- Adults only, and only people who want to. Everyone at the table should be 18+ and up for it. Nobody gets talked into playing.
- Pick the heat together. Sweet, Spicy or Filthy. If anyone hesitates, go one level lower. You can always turn it up next game.
- Know the limits. A quick “anything off the table?” before you start saves awkward moments later. House words can be fun; they shouldn't be about someone who isn't in on the joke.
While you play
- ✋ Pass is for everyone. Any player can tap it on any line or dare, including someone else's. It disappears, no score, no explanation. Respect it without comment.
- Challenges are about the words, not the person. Vote on whether the line works as a phrase.
- Dares are optional. Always. Doing one earns 3 points; skipping one costs nothing.
- Read the room. If someone goes quiet, take a break, drop the heat or switch to Sweet.
After you play
- Share clean. The clean recap image hides every word. Use the full one only if everyone agrees.
- What's said at the table stays at the table. Don't screenshot other people's lines without asking.
Drinking
Some people like to add drinks as a house rule. The app doesn't, and it never pressures anyone to drink. Know your limits, never drink and drive, and nobody should ever be pushed to keep up.
If something isn't okay
Stop the game. Nothing in a game is worth someone feeling unsafe. If you're in danger, call your local emergency number. In the US you can reach the National Sexual Assault Hotline (RAINN) at 1-800-656-4673, any time.
Something in the game itself feel wrong, like a word that shouldn't be in the deck? Tell us at hello@datenight.cards.
